Im particularly loving the "Picky Job Market" lot challenge.
I'd like my sims to actually EARN those high paying careers, rather than just play chess for an hour and all of a sudden they're qualified to become a general practitioner at the hospital. No career progression whatsoever until your sim goes to school and earns their degree. And with interviews, you know how if you dont get hired the manager says "we have your resume on file, so try again in 6months" or whatever? What if you can't re-apply for that same job for a week? In that time if your sim resends their resume and works on their skills, then maybe they'll get the job?
And since alot of jobs these days tend to be more "who you know", what if you're talking to a sim that works in the same career that you're trying to get into? Perhaps with a high enough friendship, you can ask them to "put in a good word for you" (this interaction is only available if your sim is still waiting to hear the results from the interview ) and boost your chances at getting employed?
I don't think you would have to get a degree, per se. Some people go into fields self-taught. If you need more education, the workplaces may pay for you to have it.
