Rental pack: How can you get your own NPC families into your own rentals

I'm experimenting and I get the impression I have to make an NPC family I want to move into my rental to have no home and then they'd show up in the list of possible tenants?
Thanks for any info. Watched a video that showed all functions but it didn't mention this aspect.

As far as I understood this - not played much with the rental units yet - your family can actively move into a rental unit, just like they can move into any vacant residential spot. You just need to switch control to their household while moving the in. Afterwards you can switch back to the Landlord if that is your wanted view.

If landlord shall move them in through the occupy unit menu, the family must first be homeless, like you said, them they will appear on that list of possible renters. There might be filters tickling in though, as to how much rent they can pay or if the game think the standard won't meet their requests etc. So, the quickest way is probably moving them in by playing them actively, and then switch.

Yes, as long as they're not in the world, they can appear in the potential tenant pool.

Though as long as they don't have horses. 1 horse and they'll never appear in the tenant pool.

Any non-housed household should be a candidate to show up in the list. But you can also move households in from Manage Households. You don't have to do it through gameplay.

I do this by using Manage Households on the world screen. If you have tenant already in there then just move in the family you want with them. I then use MC Command Center to delete the one I don't want.
  • I move in NPCs through the world screen too. That's the easiest way as you can then move in all households you want at the same time and be done with it.
