Reset (Restart)-Itis Is Plaguing Me! RESOLVED

Hey @GalacticGal. I recall you say that you are very nearly as far with this lot of Cantrells as you’ve ever been.
Seriously consider sticking with them. You can play the new generation through the new expansion instead!

I totally sympathise with re-startis (as I am confident you know from my posts). Don’t beat yourself up if you start over, but do try to stick with it. Perhaps we can beat it together? (I’m doing good at the moment but you never know when I reach my own trigger point).

My trigger point was the one scene in the Trailer that showed the girl climbing down out of her bedroom to go to the Prom! Somehow, (and I hope my assumption is wrong) but it gave me the impression high school is a Boarding school! Plus, I'm worried that we can't control all of our Teen Sims, as we can do when we place students into the same dorm in Uni.

I know, in the game I stopped due to mod problems, Jamison was a Teen, as were the TWINS Melodie and Harmony. The younger two sons, Andrew and Peter aged up to Child. and so did the baby, Cadence. This time around, the game threw a wrench into my plot. Instead of twins, I got triplets. I got Andrew, but instead of Peter I got Carina. Now, because I clicked on an interaction from a mod I just installed, I gambled and lost. Another baby is on the way. :open_mouth: (And not the Butler's, either.)

I totally feel as if I've messed it all up again. I guess, I could try to walk it back to when they first move to HoB? This time control the gender and order of the babies better — although in my own defense, I did have the second baby set to be twin girls, but the game decided otherwise. I didn't set Andrew to be a boy, either. Neither did I set Carina. Then I had the couple woohoo without 'protection' as it were, and lost. Oi!

However, Erik has just won his eighteenth award so he's one Accolade ahead of the save I've kept, since I learned how he can win for his music.

I suppose if it turns out we can only control one of our Teens during HSY, I could use MCCC to change the age-span manually to make it work. Oi this is such a mess in my mind.

I had not heard about that possible limitation yet.. that would be unfortunate.

You might consider turning aging off and sending the Cantrell brood through one at a time (then turning aging back on when they're all done). Not sure how well that would work (kind of depends on the High School expansion I guess) but it's a thought.

Of course, restarting is also a perfectly valid approach. I don't even want to tell you how many different versions of my Silveroak-Goth family I have sitting in various saves and restarts. :)

Right now, I'm contemplating just what it would be like if a young Global Superstar, (such as Erik Cantrell), was on campus? I recall seeing a segment in the Trailer, or in the information thread that students have afterschool activities, or they can just go home to do their homework. I got the possibly wrong impression it was a Boarding School due to the gal climbing out of her bedroom window to go to the Prom. Little sneak!

but since it's been stated the students could participate in afterschool activities or just go home, that gives me the answer. It's NOT a Boarding School. PHEW!

Like I suggested in one of my other threads on the HSY EP, I may just go ahead and restart the Cantrells (Gens. 1 & 2). It may be quite fun to have Erik rise to fame during his high school years and how the others (NPCs) react when he hits the big time. I can hopefully place Kayleigh there, too to see if they hit it off again. So many possibilities.

As for the number of Restarts/Refreshes/Redux I have done over time is too many to count, or even remember. LOL

If you end up restarting, at least you get to play Erik's high school :p

That's what I'm thinking, too. I won't delete the current save, but maybe pick it up at a later time? This could just be a Flashback save! Ooh, now I'm getting excited.

Unless they've found a way around it, my guess is HSY will function similar to GtW. If you have two scientists, doctors, or detectives, you can only follow one of the sims to work at a time.

I put my Xalavdor family on hold because of the pack. The twins just aged up to teens and since I want this to be a legacy-style save, I want them to be the first to experience high school.

As for your dilemma, I have to agree with @NRowe. You've made it so far with the Cantrells this time. If it were me, I would just keep going with that save. Maybe it will help form the personalities of that generation and make you want to continue the legacy. It may make you more attached to the save than you already are.

@GalacticGal breath with me in..and...out ?. You've got a bit over two weeks to work it out, though I think a "flashback" type of save is a great idea. Btw, it's not a boarding school; the woman in the scene of the girl climbing out the window is her mother (whose also the school principle).

I think a flashback save would be so much better than a complete restart. I've only been on here since late February so I'm not familiar with how far back your Cantrell save goes, but it sounds like you've invested a lot of time and yourself into it. It would be a shame to lose it all. By this time next week we'll have a lot better idea how this is going to work. I would keep the flashback idea in the back of your mind until then and in the meantime enjoy your time with the Cantrell's. I feel @SweetieWright_84 is spot on with how this will work. I would rotate and each day, spend the entire school day with that one sim and so on. I feel like it will all work out for you and you won't need to restart.

then why not play with aging fully turn off?
