Rotational Play Rant
I consider myself a pretty extensive rotational player. I typically play my most frequently played saves this way. That said, I feel the Sims 4 is making it harder to play in this style for longer periods of time. I have experienced "relationship culling" on three different occasions, with three different save files. I'm the type of player that, not only likes to have a large extended family, but also a significant number of lifelong friends. My sims friends always get culled. I even had a pair of teens in a relationship (promise rings and everything) that didn't even know each other once I went back to one of the households. This is the very antithesis of rotational play. At first I thought it was because I marked them as "unplayed" in the world manager but the same thing just happened on a different save where a young adult sim I had was invited to his long time friends wedding but when I went to play his household the very next day he wasn't even on the relationship panel and was unknown when I invited their club over.
This is ultimately my long winded way of saying I don't believe the Sims 4 supports rotational play. I know relationship decay over time (especially without the beloved aspiration reward) but the reintroduction aspect of it is altogether unbearable, especially in cases were there was a significant relationship like best friends or romance. I much preferred the way things where done in Sims 3 where they would become "Distant Friends". Am I just screaming into the void by myself? Has this happened to other rotational simmers? How did you deal with it? I know MCCC can be used to stop culling outright but I don't like to rely on mods to fix things like this. I also shy away from mods because the game updates too frequently. I just find it strange how the game will cull the relationships of sims I'm playing to "save data" while also generating new random townies by the dozen. I don't mean to complain about something this insignificant to most players but this is something that is game breaking for me and it's even more frustrating knowing it is an intentional aspect of the game.
