Actualy there is a mod for this but now is not working after patch. Is called less bad/good surroundings, makes much better the gameplay and emotions. It sounds not so hard to fix this problem.
I use this mod, it solve a bit the problem, but still.. you cook 3 meals and you are a master chef, and eating a grilled sandwich give a +1 happy, and if are unlucky and have a confident or flirty mood when someone dies after the meal, you get no reaction just the same.
Still works for you? For me stopped working :( with patch of april I think.
