Mannequins share their outfits, and they only have 5 outfit slots per category, so you don't really need 10 or more of them. If you want to quickly see all outfits in one category, 5 mannequins are enough, or just one if you don't mind scrolling through the available outfits. I think it would have been nice if mannequins automatically displayed outfits saved in the gallery by players and you could buy outfits for your sims that way. I find it a bit tedious to go put outfits on a mannequin, then go shopping with your sim for those outfits. You could create the same outfits without going shopping so there is little purpose in shopping for clothes.
