Seasonal Deco....

In one save I had a restaurant that had Love Day decorations up all year. ? I'm hoping it's one of the bugs that gets fixed in next week's patch. But for now there's no way to turn it off/control what happens on lots outside of your own.

No way to turn it off? Please don't say that.

Also, it looks cheesy. I don't like it at all. Forgive me, but I've barely played since seasons came out and I don't like this at all.

I don't think there is anyway to turn it off there might be with a mod if you aren't against them.

If the decorations have remained on the community lots after the holiday has finished , try creating and scheduling a holiday and choose the “ no decorations” option. Then when this holiday comes, the decorations on the other lots should be removed by the game at that time.

I've done this before, on the next calendar day create a useless holiday with no decoration theme, then once all the decorations are gone just delete the holiday. If you don't want the decorations showing up period, you can edit the holidays to have no set decoration theme, that way no decorations will ever show up.

I'm not against mods, but with the python update coming, none of them will work after that so there's no point in trying to look for one.

I tried turning off all the holidays for the save. Maybe I will keep doing that and then repair game or something.

I know why they did this. It was part of their answer to "story progression" and helping simmers make believe that the world is carrying on with them in their games. But these things NEVER work out right in Sims4.

And by the looking at the other thread and how many play rotationally and don't want things changed in the game ( true sandbox) it looks like they should just quit this kind of cheesy attempt and leave it alone. It ruins the game. I can't get immersed in it when I see those cheesy decorations all over my nightclubs and restaurants and other of MY OWN houses and my OWN sims houses that I haven't been to in a while.

So now it's another tedious thing I have to do. Buy a freaking decoration box for every sim and remove the decorations at every played house I have?

I'm building a world here. I'm creating every sim. Every house. Every connection between every sim. And this save is ongoing.....when they put crap in like this....if RUINS it for players like me.

@fullspiral If you don't want the decorations on your neighbors homes at all, set the holiday decorating theme to none for your holidays*, this is what determines neighborhood decorating. You can still decorate your own home using the "attic stack decoration boxes" (I think that's the right name).

To remove left behind decorations make another holiday, all you have to have is a name and an icon, I generally go with something lame like "clean up", set the decoration theme to none, don't add any traditions, and untick the box for stay home from work/school. When the holiday rolls around the decorations will disappear from your neighborhood, you won't have to complete any goals, and your Sims will still attend work & school.

*ETA: This applies to the pre-created holidays as well like winterfest and the like. If edit them and set the decoration theme to none, your neighborhood won't be decorated, but you can still jazz up your own house. :)

Yes, I was editing my previous post as you were posting. It's tedious but it's all there is w/o mods especially with the update coming. :)
