Seasons: Does the weather machine work?

There’s an option in the game settings that lets you disable thunderstorms from happening. I use it.

Also, there’s a mod on Mod The Sims that lets you download an object that looks like the base game thermostat but instead it has all of the functionality of the weather machine in that small compact form and it comes already fully updated.

It works but it can backfire if your sims handiness skill is low. I've had sims get electrocuted and die because their handiness skill was low 0-2 especially.

Why would you want to turn off thunderstorms? :/ genuine question.

I have really bad anxiety and don’t know how I’d cope with them.

I’ll warn you, thunderstorms can still happen on mystery weather days,

I wish lightning could happen during snowstorms in this game like in real life. I"d love to have seen Thundersnow in TS4 Seasons.

I have never seen thunder snow in real life, and I live in Canada, but I must say I really want to experience a thunder snow now, sounds invigorating.

I have seen them here in Utah. They are very rare, but more common were you have "lake effect" snow like near the great lakes and in Utah the Great Salt Lake.

I'd love thundersnow in TS4 too! I've experienced it a few times here in Michigan. It is a little rare, but so surreal and fascinating to see/hear when it does happen. Another phenomenon that would've been cool is ball lightening. My Mother loved to tell us stories about when she was a child seeing ball lightening rolling down the road in front of her house. I've never seen anything like that myself.

Thunderheads, wall clouds and other interesting cloud formations before and during storms would be fun to have in the game as well. :)

On topic, I haven't tried the weather machine yet, but I'm looking forward to trying it out once my Sim levels up a bit more with her handiness skill. Especially to change the current Season to get certain harvestables when needed.

There are videos of thundersnow on YouTube. Jim Cantory from the weather channel has some up.
