Seasons: Rebate Day

I have not had this pop up in my current save yet. Seems like it might be a fun storyline for shopping in Build/Buy mode.

Have you done this surprise event? What did you think about it?

Does anyone here know what exactly is the purpose of Rebate Day? I got this today and I am not sure what to do. It says I'll get 10 percent off but I haven't seen it yet?
I bought something 500 dollars or more and it completed the tradition, and I've got some money back for it in the notifications.. but I still don't get how I am supposed to get 10% off..?

It isn’t 10% off. A rebate means you will get money back, so the money you got back in the notifications was the rebate. I bought a $900S bed, so I’ll be getting $90S back.

My question is, how many days later does it come in? The day after, I heard the money deposit sound happen and quickly saw a green money symbol but was too slow to see how much it was. I’m not sure where the money came from as my sim was just watching tv, so does it come in the next day?

I think it does come same day or next day. I did some shopping on Rebate Day and noticed a chunk come back the next day, I think?
  • I suppose it's a handy holiday if you play without cash cheat or move in your Sims using freerealestate. I hardly ever use the rebate for that reason.
  • I just go thru the house and sell what I don't really need, never use, or could do without atm (trying to sell enough to buy $500 worth). If a kids room has two beds, and I have one kid....I sell the bed. Same with microwave or coffee pot....sell it. Usually I try to get a new full bed and get rid of the uncomfortable one first.

I always check the calendar before buying or replacing anything.....I love Rebate Day :D

That’s a fantastic way to use it! I will need to remember that for my current household.
  • I just used it. My Rock Star wanted to give his little nieces and nephews that really cool, loud, obnoxious gaming console for four. ;) Since he lives in the same household, all the adults got credit for the purchase, too. Turned out to be a good 'holiday' (wish they'd figure out another word for this, since there isn't much holy about it LOL).
  • I like this event actually, though it always seems to happen at inconvenient times. First time I didn't realize you had to spend $500 on a single item for it to count. It was a starter so everything I purchased was cheap. Over $500 altogether. Didn't count. After that I realized my mistake and it was fine until recently. I've noticed with a few of the events this one anand the lottery in particular that even though you fulfill them properly, they don't actually count. Very annoying. Not sure why it's happening. Hope they sort it out. Otherwise its a good event. Nice way to get a little back.
