Seeking tips on making Sims more social. (Now with update)

My Sims are loners (though none of them literally, as in by trait). They hardly ever have multiple friends. I have just started a/nother project with three roommates. I even moved a previous Sim ...

Thanks all. This is good stuff.
I converted the Torendi Tower into a Youth Centre (cinema, cafe, dancing/DJ, basketball, yoga and that swimming pool).
Maybe that will be a decent start along with getting at least one of the ladies in a club.
