Seeking tips on making Sims more social. (Now with update)

My Sims are loners (though none of them literally, as in by trait). They hardly ever have multiple friends.

I have just started a/nother project with three roommates. I even moved a previous Sim or two in and would really like to get one of my active Sims with a specific Sim.

So, what are your tips for making these fresh Sims more social?
-especially because micro managing three Sims at once is tricky
-and they’re all working
-and I want to get the one couple together almost ASAP without making it too contrived

  • Check out this guide posted on Carl's Sims 4 Guide website. A lot of great information on how to make friends in text form and a YT video if you'd like to take a look.

    The Sims 4 Relationships Guide

One of the best ways to make friends that I personally rely on is the cloud/stargaze interaction available if you have the Outdoor Retreat GP. Increasing their Charisma skill is also a good idea. As they level up, special social interactions are unlocked that are a big boost to making friends.

For romancing Sims in addition to the romantic aura lot trait already mentioned, have one of your Sims paint a flirty painting. Enable the romantic aura and hang it in the room where the two Sims are chatting. Or if you have those TS3 emotion lamps, could enable the flirty one in the room as well.

Also, when they are in a flirty mood, have them bake flirty cookies. Any Sim that eats one will become instantly flirty. To get your Sim flirty have them watch the Romance channel on TV or 'Freshen up' using a mirror.

If you have the City Living EP, you're golden for romance. Just send the Sims you want to get together to a Romance festival and have them drink the tea together. Bingo, instantly flirty and receptive to romance. :) I always go into build mode during a Romance Festival and add a closet to the Karaoke bar somewhere too. Just in case they want to 'seal the deal' on their new relationship. As a bonus, the festival will shoot off fireworks for them when they woo hoo. ;)

One important tip about romance, DO NOT ever use the 'Confess Attraction' social at the beginning of a romance. That social is guaranteed to be a giant buzz kill.

Hope this is helpful for you. Have fun! :)
  • Here’s what’s been happening, just in case anyone is interested.
The three roommates are named Bonnie, Breanna and Valerie. All are Young Adult.
Bonnie is an unflirty geek and a scientist. She is the one I want to have a girlfriend (not sure exactly why she is my first attracted-to-the-same-sex Sim, but I have decided she is).
Breanna is an outgoing, self-confident style influencer.
Valerie is a kleptomaniac, childish and career criminal.

Val made a New Years Resolution to get a significant other. So far, not so good. She got invited to the default Good Timers club, but I thought the members were a bit older, married and/or otherwise unsuitable. She quit very quickly. Took Breanna to the fancy, romantic lounge in San Myshuno but no luck for either lady. Only a couple of elders there too.

Bonnie got invited by a co-worker to a Dance Party. Val was at work, but she took Breanna. It happened to be Valentines Day. Bonnie met a townie named Zara. Seems pretty and may be suitable, for all that Bonnie is the one I would perhaps like to get with another Sim/creation of mine named Amelia. It was so funny and perfect. After going up to the bar for a quick drink, the group hit the dance floor. Well, Bonnie actually stood off to one side at the bottom of the stairwell. Totally suits her personality.

The real surprise was Breanna meeting Bob Pancakes in the middle of the dance floor. I kinda adore Bob and played him a long time back. THAT game had Bob and Eliza reconciling (based on autonomous action + whims). I wasn’t expecting Bob to insinuate himself into my project but I think he’s going to (sorry Eliza). So although he wasn’t too impressed by Breanna’s inept flirting (see low Charisma etc), he has accepted an invite to hang out (while Breanna was working from home) the next day. They are close to being friends.
    I’m rather excited.
  • Taking pictures of/with a Sim you want to befriend is one of the quickest ways to build a relationship with that Sim.

Yeah. That's almost a 'cheat' in itself. lol!
