Traits definitely have an impact on the sale price. I always assumed it was random but when looking in the code the other week I came across coding for the traits and the impact each one has on the sale price. An affectionate dog would increase the amount you get while an aggressive dog would decrease the amount you get for example. It might be that there's a base price that's randomised but the traits will then alter that price to give a final result.
