Well specially made indoor slippers are good. Most people wear socks indoors. Even at rather expensive parties, as long as they're in private homes. It's easy to spot (without any other clues) if it's a Swedish movie if the coctail party at new years involves women in expensive dresses standing on the balcony in just their stocking-covered feet, no heels (left at the door).
