Separating/ Divorcing your Sims - TS4

Anyone got any suggestions on the best way to have sims be divorced especially if they have children? i.e. living arrangements, relationship. Also has anyone has divorced sims before? Tell me about ...

I had 2 parents who divorced. The kid switched houses every 3-4 days.
