Yep. That's why I always have my Sims that are "collecting" like my self-employed Archaeologist live in an apartment until more than enough funds are accrued to move into a house.
Apartments seem to have the utilities "included" in the rent. There is no bill for utilities or items in your inventory in an apartment.
There are no bills for utilities in apartments but your bill is affected by the items in your inventory or apartment. I had my archaeologist sim live in an apartment thinking it was a sneaky way to avoid high bills from all his collectibles. Alas, the bills started coming in at over 50,000 simoleons before long and so I just switched off bills with MCCC.
Really?! I haven't played her in months, but I only ever got the 300 simoleons rent every Monday with a ton of items in her inventory. I wonder if they adjusted that in an update. :/
