Share Your Culling Story
*WARNING THIS THREAD WILL MOST LIKELY BE SUPER NEGATIVE* If you like the game, that's fine! I'm glad you enjoy it! However, I created this thread to spread awareness of the horrors of culling, hopi...

@Writin_Reg, I've always, always sympathized with people affected by culling. Always. Never haven't. Sim culling has never affected me only because I don't interact much with townies and don't care about genealogy being tracked in-game, and I know that it's only gameplay preference that mean it doesn't touch me. I've all along supported having an in-game option to stop culling, same as we have an in-game option to play on Ultra graphics settings, so that we don't have to rely on modders for this basic thing. I'm not sure why anyone would have the impression that I didn't understand or sympathize with people affected by it earlier.
Anyway, thank you for your note. I "got over it," as it were, and am living with the new situation using a mod and will, when I have time to play again, get back to rebuilding the relationships in the game. I've done "starting over" a lot anyway, and often find that I enjoy my recreated or fresh game more, so that's not an issue for me personally. I feel much more sorry for people for whom it is than I do for myself.
What I don't agree with is that the game is a disaster and needs to go back to the drawing board. It needs better communication of major changes, and it needs more options for gameplay aspects that affect performance the same as it has options for graphics aspects that affect performance. I think it's a terrific game otherwise, which motivates me to push to keep it terrific and keep adding more terrific stuff for it.
