Share Your Culling Story

I've been suffering from both culling and relationship culling since day one. It's old news, but I'll rear my ugly head to support your cause because I believe in it. It's the most belligerent, arrogant, hostile, and ignorant idea Maxis has ever come up with and it's completely unnecessary unless their engine is completely incapable of handling anything beyond that. In which case, they blatantly lied to us. Which again, is belligerent, arrogant, hostile, and ignorant to the players.

*picks kernels from teeth and goes back to building lots that are impossible to play in any sims game*

I haven't experienced any culling in my game. Runs to knock on wood. :)

I don't pay much attention to the townies that the game generates and I really don't have my sims associate with them (is that bad?).
I've had none of my sims that are in households get culled. If I see a townie that interests me, I will move them in to a house and have them marked as played even if I dont play them in my rotation. (I may down the road so I save them from the culling beast)

I've had relationship culling since the patch and have had to reintroduce sims several times. I got fed up and installed Neia's no relationship culling mod. So far, so good.

But yes, it needs fixing.

I don´t know, why people still play with townies. Just interact with the sims which have a house and you will never experience any culling. Problem solved.

Culling is *HECK* for Legacy players. Ghosts get culled not only from the world, but from family trees... It kind of kills the happiness and joy that comes from playing as a family player. :<

I got two stories.

When I got the game...
I tried making a legacy everything was fine and I got to generation 3 with no issues. However my first generation sim was dead and buried in the backyard next to her late husband while her daughters still lived in the same house they started with. For a while my sims would get haunted by their mom , but suddenly after I updated the game I go back to my game and I noticed no ghosts were haunting me anymore and when I checked the family tree the mother and father were nowhere to be found.

That's the day family play died for me, can't say I didn't try family play without toddlers, but thanks to culling legacies have no purpose.

Second attempt with the sims 4

After I got back to my game after like 4 months I decide to go for rotational play, since family play died. I rebuilt a bunch of houses and added a bunch of households, couples, families, roommates and a few single sims. I have over 11 household made by me from scratch. I worked on this game all year long and it's my current game. When get together gets announced I think " perfect now all my sims can join clubs" . In my game the main goal is friendship so obviously all of them knew each other and I had a diversity of sims , therefor many clubs thought out. However I install the new patch go back to the game I've been working on all year long to create clubs and enjoy the new expansion pack, but no no no, my sims no longer have friends and have to meet everyone again.

I tried recovering my friendships to actually play get together and I made it after a few hours with some of my sims. The other half still don't know each other and I got bored and I haven't been able to play the game in days.

If you read my stories non of them involve townies.

I've already posted my sob story more than once on the sim culling issue but I support ANYONE WHO KEEPS BRINGING IT TO LIGHT. Maxis made a big deal out the steps they took to manage the actual sim culling while doing everything in their power to devastate relationships through the same method. I had my sim go out and make friends with everyone in town and the next sim day only the two people he was living with were still listed in his relationship panel- EVERYONE ELSE WAS GONE relationship wise! AND there's no reason why save Maxis being afraid their engine will crash otherwise. Sorry, but how much more can go into the game if that's the case and do I really want to play with SOLELY EIGHT sims and that's it- no rotation, no extended friendships or family? No, I don't. Do I want to re-introduce myself EVERY DAY? No, I don't. Do I want to have to constantly turn to mods to rescue the Sims from Maxis? No, I don't.

Anyway, my rant. Good luck OP with this thread staying anywhere people will see it. Most likely it will be banished to "Feedback" momentarily.

That just made my night haha. Best rant ever. That's exactly how I feel.
