So, it seems Sentiments may bring some challenges to parenting...

In the side-save I play now, the baby was aged up to toddler. I sent mom to potty-train him, and he was like nope. I think going all the way to a festering grudge is a bit over the top (something more short-term would make more sense), but I'll see how it goes.
On the other way, tucking in a toddler seems to have a high chance to trigger 'adoring' in the parent, leading to the combination of pretty much total opposites.
It'll be interesting to see how fast (or slow) the grudge goes away...
Edit: screenshot is from the mother's point-of-view, which may not be the brightest idea ever... sorry.
Edit #2: And it seems the game automatically marked her as 'stay-at-home-mom' as she's unemployed. Interesting.
Edit #3: maybe the 'fix bad relationship' thing that I've never had to use yet may be useful now?
