Even though this save seems like your favorite, you should play it safe and play another save that wouldn't matter if all goes awry. You can't risk undoing your progress for the millionth time because of the game. Take a break, and then come back if/when it feels safe to do so.
Or you could do an alternate save if you can't fathom playing without Erik. A save that still wouldn't matter what happens. Maybe a chaos save where anything (within the realm of your comfort) goes?
