I prefer the rating as it is. I don't see how this game would benefit from an adult rating, I don't need more violence or sexual content in my sims game, what I need is less childish content/interactions. For example, I would like to have more romantic and sexy interactions and I would love if they get rid of the childish high five couples do before woohoo.
The limits of a T rated can be pushed a lot more than they are being pushed at the moment. Everything is too happy and vanilla but they managed to bring to this iteration the best and darkest vampires we have ever gotten. So it can be done, it's just a matter of choices.
I like how TS2 specially dealt with this, it was a lot raunchier and "adult" in many ways than TS4 but still T rated. It had a great balance between goofiness and seriousness. It felt real but also light. The drama that you could create was a lot more adult and yet it was super fun and silly at the same time.
TS4 feels very childish in comparisson but I don't think is a matter of rating but of choices that were/are made when designing the game.
And for whoever wants violence or whatever, that's what mods are for.
