This is something The Sims 3 is really good at. I was just playing the Alto family and I was given the opportunity to steal money with Vita. I decided not to do it because I didn't want to risk getting fired. Nick was given the opportunity to fire somebody and I did it. I got a raise as a result but the person he fired hates his guts now.
