Remember the Sims 2 Exchange, when Maxis would sometimes design things for you and give them to you for free to download to your game, just to say thank you. That was nice. You felt appreciated. A new living chair. A stuffed animal. A new car model. A statue of Cupid. Remember that weird scissors they gave us that you could run around with and then die because you ran with them? That was very weird. But it was okay, because it was free. I never really played the Sims 3 much, but I am so totally not on board with a Sims 4 store. Why do I have to buy more stuff when I already bought every single expansion, game and stuff pack? Where the heck are my appreciation gifts? Maxis can't even give away a free lamp to my Sims? A painting? A pair of shoes? Companies would probably collab and pay them just for free advertising. I'd dress my Sims in corporate swag if it came free.
If they actually make a store and sell bunk beds, sleeping bags, or a baby stroller, I will go back to playing the Sims 2. I am drawing a line in the sand. The in-app store in Sims Freeplay ruined the game for me, because they have all kinds of quests where they lead you to believe you can unlock new content for free just by playing along, which you can't, and then at the end when the time limit runs out they tell you, don't worry, you can now buy everything for a ridiculous amount of money. It just feels greedy to me.
I like that Sims 4 sometimes add gameplay features when they do a patch update. I would like them to do this more often on holidays or just randomly, like hey, this patch has bunk beds and a sleeping bag, enjoy, and thank you for playing the Sims 4! That's what I want. Gratitude from a billion-dollar company, not greediness.
