Shrinking Items

I was watching this YouTuber the other day and she was shrinking items without using the replace head method. I asked her how she did it and her answer was just to Google hotkeys. I have played this game (And all past Sims games) since launch and have Googled hotkeys to death. I even went back to Google them after she told me to search, and I still cannot find the hotkey that allows you to shrink an item below it's original size. Any other help besides "Google it"?

  • They added the ability to shrink items in a patch awhile back. In build mode shift+ will enlarge it when you have it selected. It’s as simple as that.

Here, I found a video tutorial:

  • I don't know if it's different for different keyboards or not but I use these keys to make items smaller or bigger. I shrink items a lot in my game because for some reason in the Sims 4 a lot of the items seem bigger than they need to be and it looks weird.
  • Yes, this is the method I do use all the time, but I have never had it shrink past the original size. Thanks for the info though. I will keep trying and see why it doesn't work on my end.

It's possible that bb.moveobjects might need to be on. I'm not sure though.

  • I think it was a corrupt old save. I have had this save for SO many patches and some of the other hotkeys were not working like they should. I started a new save with a totally new building and it worked!
  • Thanks for the tips! Yes, I do find it annoying that things that have glass in them do not resize well either.
