Does anyone else wish the illnesses from GTW lasted a bit longer than a few hours? Usually they don't even last long enough for a full day off work if you've chosen to go down that route, so the notification says you were "sick." I'm surprised we don't have any that last 7-10 hours, or even 24. After all, if a Sim can be in mourning for a random acquaintance for 2 days, or a pregnant sim can have the morning sickness moodlet for several days, why can't the sim be ill for a full day or so?I haven't experienced poisoning and most of the other negative scenarios in JA yet so I am not sure how those compare, lengthwise.

Normally, I don't, as I just find the illnesses annoying, but last night I had a sim go out to eat with her dad and it took so long at the restaurant, she didn't get home until 2am, and she had to work at 6. On top of that, she ended up getting food poisoning. Once I realized she was sick, I decided to give her the day off, thinking the food poisoning would last at least a day, so it would be worth it, when, in reality, the illness only lasted about 2 hours, so she essentially wasted one of her day's off. So, yeah, sometimes I do kind of wish they were longer.

I just wish the game handled sicknesses as it was handled in Sims2. You had to make your Sims rest, which included a bubble bath as rest. Otherwise, you risked your Sim. I always made them rest and never allowed them to grow more ill to see what would happen. Hey, Sims2 was my very first real 'gaming' experience. ;)

I wish illness lasted longer and that it were more impactful. I wish we had the option to go to the hospital for treatment of it got serious enough. Just buying medication from the computer is okay, but I think it would be cool if you had to sometimes take more steps to get well.

Yes! When we play the Doctor career we can treat sims we might have seen elsewhere in the world, and we can even make house calls, but when we're playing those other sims, we can't visit the hospital, except for childbirth. It's a real shame it doesn't work both ways.

Hopefully they patch in or at least discuss the idea of increasing the duration of illnesses. It will in turn add another dynamic in the game you'd have to overcome with rest and drinking tea but also they should keep in the instant healing medicine for people who don't have time for their sim to be sick.

I's handy being able to cure the sickness instantly with a cup of green tea or a nap but I do occasionally miss the longer periods of sickness from Sims 2.

Yes! When we play the Doctor career we can treat sims we might have seen elsewhere in the world, and we can even make house calls, but when we're playing those other sims, we can't visit the hospital, except for childbirth. It's a real shame it doesn't work both ways.

I did a little research and found a mod called Cooler Sicknesses Mod on Mod the Sims if anyone is interested. It lengthens the amount of time sims are sick for and actually lets us see what illness they have. I haven't installed it yet, but I might, just to test it out. I had a sim get sick for the first time recently. I was beginning to think they had nuked it since I never see it. I was kind of excited for it and I was hoping for a Sims 2 like experience but it was practically over before it even started. Very disappointing. I don't see the point of it. It seems to be more or less just another moodlet.

Thanks. I'd be sorely tempted to download that but I've already got a whole lot of mods that will need to be updated when the big Python update happens so I am worried about adding yet another one I'll have to consider.

So true. I wish they did this with the Get To Work pack. If our sick pets can visit clinics, why not our sick sims?
