Sim being held hostage by university

My sim finished her term and it gave me the option to start a new term or to take a break, so I chose take a break which no longer made her a student at the school which is fine, but then I get the "packing up and moving out" notification telling me to get all my sim's stuff so she can get ready to leave. So I start packing up her things so I can re-enroll her into a new term, and cancelled the event action, hoping I could move my sim to the other dorm since she was once again a student, but it won't let me. Every time I cancel the moving out notification, it comes back which is preventing me from traveling or saving my game. I let the event finish and click ok but it keeps restarting. I had to drop out of school, just to get it to stop which means she lost all her credits and I lost progress in my gameplay. I had to quit without saving
