Yes. This is how cutaway mode worked in TS1:
See the two walls the red arrows are pointing to? They're still up. The reason why is that in cutaway mode in TS1, the only wall that dropped down was the one nearest you, so that you would always see the back wall of whatever room the sims were standing in. It's not like in TS3 and TS4 where every single wall dropped down except the exterior wall, making all the rooms behind the sims "transparent."
I really wish the devs would make cutaway work like this again.
