- Ambitions by far. The sims 3 itself was a whole nother ball game compared to sims 4, had a lot more content too.
- icemanfreshSeasoned NewcomerHonestly, GTW is a watered down version of Ambitions and Open for Business. It has features from both, but not implemented as well and lacks the depth either one had. And it doesn't help that GTW became really buggy later on. It's good that they finally fixed the detective clue bug, at least.
- Sigzy_29New SpectatorAmbitions.
- fruitsbasket100New VanguardAmbitions. It does have its occasional bugs but it works a lot better than GTW. Plus they gave you more careers options and even added to already existing ones too.
- This is a hard one for me as I've only played the Doctor career in GTW which was fun and only the Firefighter and Architectural Designer in Ambitions. So giving two points for the 2 Sims 3 careers I really enjoyed, 1 point for laundromats and 1 point for the retail system which I really like in GTW and 1 point for the Doctor career then Ambitions edges out GTW, 3-2.
- Ambitions, hands down. It just flowed better with the game, and being an open world your sims are able to get out an actually interact with others. Just off the top of my head, how your doctor would get called out to do random check ups at the park (yes, I know that didn't come with Ambitions. lol) Or how their private eye would hide behind a bush to spy on their subject. rofl So great.

I found the careers in Ambitions boring, to be honest. For example ghost buster - drive to house, exterminate ghosts, rinse repeat.
Also, Ambitions is not without its bugs. The firefighter career is bugged, for example with the jobs canceling when the alarms go off.
In GTW, the science career is pretty darn cool with powerful rewards. The doctor career is fun too. I haven't played Detective yet because I was waiting for the bugs to be fixed. Now apparently they have so I am choosing a sim to be my first detective.
Even though the retail in GTW is not at the level of Sims 2 Open for Business, I still love the retail aspect. Even when I don't play retail I love having retail stores in the world. Therefore for me, GTW adds more for me than Ambitions. - I really like some of the Ambitions careers, even though they are lineair and checklist based. I liked the stylist career because I played it in Sunset Valley and restyling townies there is a very gratifying job :p I liked the ghostbuster and the firefighter career (the latter is bugged but playable for me with a work around) because I like the hunting aspect and the action. The investigator was a let down for me, I quit beforehand.
As for GTW, like in Ambitions I’m not a fan of the lineair aspect. I do like the fact you have real colleagues and the animations are nice (I briefly did the police career and the scientist career for quite a while). The police career felt fake (comparable to the investigator career in Ambitions) and after enjoying the scientist for a couple of days, I lost interest because I didn’t see any progress in animations. It was like making your sim do the very same things over and over again day after day. I left her busy working on the rocket (when I returned to TS3), I would have loved for her to go to Sixam (a really nice touch of that pack), but building that rocket as such was a bore too - tick tick tick tick, I’d always put on speed 3, as I did with all the other animations after seeing them a couple of times - and stood in the way of promoting (I had to ignore the checklist). Going to Sixam though is still on my to do list and a reason to continue with that sim one day.
All in all I prefer Ambitions, because there was some creativity in there (stylist and decorator) and action (ghosthunter and firefighter). And another aspect I loved and used for many sims I played, is the ability to register as self-employed. - keekee53Seasoned NewcomerWow actually going to pick GTW because I am one of the people who actually enjoys doctor and detective(even though it is freaking BROKEN ALL THE TIME)over Ambitions.
I really did not like Ambitions much in Sims 3. Although, firefighter did trump all...I enjoyed it. I loved when my Sim got called out to fires. I do remember the firefighter is a hero bug and the whole town would be stuck at city hall..lol Ghost hunter seemed interesting but I never played it because I got so annoyed when my Sims neighbors had ghost and I had to listen to that music the whole Sim night. I went back and played investigator recently it seemed ok. - Get to Work. I love how depth it was for me especially since it was a live mode focus. I don't play much with CAS or BB so having all the careers to be live mode focus is a plus for my playstyle. I also love the rewards that came with the careers, and most of the time I don't follow the goals that my sims need to follow. I just do whatever I want in the careers and sometimes I don't even notice that I reached a gold medal in one day.
Also love the Business Side. You need to had a strong patience to enjoy it, and that is what I loved about retail.
