I want TS5 worlds to be an improvement over TS4 but not literally an open world. Small neighborhood areas of 4/5 lots without loading screens seems reasonable to me (in the beginning of next TS gen) within worlds that you can travel between.
However I think we need to consider things like ray tracing (that will settle new lighting techniques) and the new console/PC hardware. SSD will become more ordinary and probably will help a lot to load more objects, Sims etc.
