Sims 4: 10 million units sold?

That’s impressive as the Sims 2 did 6 million+ on PC, and Sims 3 did 7+ million.

Sims 2 is over 13 million all platforms in 2012, Sims 3 was at 10 million all platforms in 2014.

That said, we’re in an age where piracy is harder as it stops people exploring the full game and is super buggy which forces people to buy.
So there’s provably plenty of people who downloaded 2 & 3 illegally as it was easier.
So that’s an advantage to 4 overall.


Still, it’s awesome that it’s hit such a huge milestone so early in it’s supposed life span. Guess that’s why they’re keeping it going, it’s not slowing down.

It helps that Sims 4 has a ton of packs that often go on sale on Origin. The stuff pack sales alone probably contributed a lot to Sims 4's sales.

If the golden pins represent significant base game patches, what does the sim with the plus sign represent? The gender options patch?

The 10m sales would be base game only, not all packs combined.

So I recently watched the video where SimGuruLydnsay confirmed that TS4 sold over 5 million and realized that the interview was taken during a City Living pre-release event, rather than after the toddler update as I previously thought. This further confirms these pins refer to TS4’s sales numbers.

In the top left? They represent major patches to sims 4. Ghosts, pools, new careers, toddlers, cas update.

Not surprised at all. Seasons certainly seals the deal. This expansion is full of new gameplay so I am finally back to playing every day and learning how to negotiate the ins and outs of it. Sometimes I find it a bit daunting with all the new interfaces but I am thoroughly impressed with how much more immersive the game has suddenly become. I would not be surprised at all if the numbers keep rising.

When they give a numbers sold button - that is for base game only. It is not the number of the base game with all the packs.

I noticed that button doesn't have a plumbbob which is always associated with the pc version. Is this for the mobile games since it is different?

Mobile is free - it does not get "# sold" buttons, and that Guru sharing the pic of his pins is one of our pc/mac Guru's.
