The Sims 3 wasn't missing an entire life state on launch.
On the other hand, TS4 doesn't have the obnoxious 5-minute loading times or makes the entire world active. Both of these were my biggest gripes with TS3, I'm glad they toned it down.
For the record, I love both games but I can still bash them for their flaws, and there are some big flaws.
