Sims 4 may be here for quite awhile.

Oh boy, can't wait to see what bugs we get 3 years from now when we get the 20th Expansion pack piled onto this mishmash of spaghetti code. They'll still be trying to fix the bugs we have now but here comes a new expansion pack that's going to break at least 2 or 3 stuff, game or fellow expansion packs. It's going to look like Sims 3 by the time they finally finish Sims 4, a putrid buggy mess.

People here keep complaining about the cost of the DLC, but I just compare it to the cost of an MMO subscription or the cost of all the massive amounts of microtransactions "free" games manage to convince users to buy, and it comes up being fairly cheap.

For me, it was pricey because I bought a lot of DLC all around the same time, but if you took that all and divided it out across 7 years - it's cheap.

Good points. Before taking up Sims 4, Elite Dangerous was my go-to. As I've posted somewhere around here before, I was looking for something less life-consuming. By that I mean (in part) that beyond the base game (which I still think is a really good space sim), I had to pay for every little extra thing to add a bit more flavor or variety, even just new paint colors for ships, and they weren't cheap. Serendipity led me to Sims 4 when it was free during a promo deal about 3 years ago, and that was that (despite my initial misgivings because my short foray into Sims 3 a few years ago left me unimpressed, lol).

I've never paid full price for any Sims 4 DLC, though. I only buy the ones of a reasonable amount of interest to me, and I always buy during sales. I don't mind waiting; it gives me time to figure out which ones I really want and which I'd be better off without, anyway.

I'm pretty excited if it's true and especially if upgrading the engine is in the plans. I love so many aspects of this game and feel that I can play it for years. In the past there were so many games that I wanted keep playing but they would only get 1 or 2 DLC and then I had to wait years for the next version of it and there was no guarantee that I would like it. (example: loved Morrowind, was pretty meh about Oblivion still kinda got into it and played it, skipped Skyrim entirely, still dreaming about Morrowind getting an engine reboot).

Like others my only concern right now is that the developers will choose the easy way out in the future and censor/nerf every bit of the gameplay because of social pressure and that's not only in the regard of the recent issue, but also occults and the general unpredictability of the game (an aspect that I like), but the fact that they do try to introduce more toggles lately, is a bit reassuring.

I think it's nice. They will keep improving the game and hopefully add things that the players really want. Don't care about Sims 5, especially that it may be a multiplayer.

Good news for me. I'm still holding out hope that Sims 4 is gonna get its... shii-- erm, act together and actually improve on the gameplay.

The graphics are great and build mode is godmode but the gameplay is just so lackluster, limiting and too easy/sanitized.

Maybe I'm just delulu.

As dissatisfied I am with TS4, I am actually okay with this. I've no hope for TS5 at this point, so I look forward to seeing what they do to this game. An extra 7 more years is more opportunities to do good things for it.

I could post arguments that sims4 will end up with $1200 DLC that will take up 100GB on your hard drive and will cause endless bugs and performance issues but I know Maxis doesn't care about that so I won't bother.

Right now its 789,59€ / 952$ for everything.

I like TS4, it runs fine on my laptop. Wish they would improve some things and fix some bugs, but otherwise it's good. To release Sims 5 at this point it would need to be justified by some major improvement or change, either graphically or gameplay, and they are probably not ready for that yet and the associated costs involved.

Here's the problem with the logic, hardcore Simmers don't play MMOs some never did go for any of them, nor any free to play game, nor any subscription game, nor The Sims Mobile, or the Story packs from TS2 nor any of Maxis other titles or any other company's titles. So, TS4 being run like any other game that costs $1000 to play over time is right up there with any of those money grab games. They didn't go for the console versions, nor the Sims Social nor anything that veered off course. We are what EA/Maxis called the hardcore bunch who won't conform to all of that sort of gameplay....and they are right. We won't. One thing is for certain a new pack will break something in an old pack and rarely get fixed so, when those who keep buying for fifteen more years that GTW first EP will probably have burned up eventually inside the pc and not even remembered because it's more like buy a kid a toy, throw it down and buy another, and what's left on the floor becomes trash.

I'm just wondering how Maxis intends to compete with itself when they release TS5 (or whatever) and pit one team against another and loyal TS4 players against the new game's players. That's going to be interesting to see new players say how horrible TS4 is compared to Maxis' new baby. And then devs tell the fans, oh, no, you have never seen emotions like these in the new game...the ones we sold you in TS4 were all a lie, we have made the best of all time in TS5. Or tell the fans they were good at selling that fiction and with a straight face tell you TS4 didn't have emotions. Nor even multitasking as they told the fans of TS2 and even TS3. Or something as ridiculous as saying for the first time ever, you can add wallpapers and your own floor tiles in the series while they keep selling packs and kits for TS4 but telling you how awful it was (what they said about TS3) so you will buy TS5.
