I've had LOADS of sims freezing when I wasn't playing them at the time... it happens all the time to me when I play without mods. THey die in community lots or just walking up the street. I'll click on a household I haven't played in a few Sim days to find out one of them froze to death while I wasn't playing or if you live near a playgorund they will spawn there and freeze. I lost 7 sims in one winter day from them freezing to death in households I had rotated away from just a little bit ago.
