sims 4 settings for kids

My 10 year old daughter really would like to play this game. She has saved up money and has enough to purchase the game now. However some of the content shown in the advertisements does not seem appropriate for her age. Are there any configuration settings I could apply to filter out any undesired content?

Like most people have said here, I also think the way the game handless all the grown up stuff, like "woohoo" and "juice" is appropriate to a 10 year old. I mean, a kid that age probably knows something about that stuff already. And the way woohoo for example is shown in the game... Well, like people have already said, it doesn't really show anything. Just gives the idea the two (grown up) sims are having fun together.

Actually, a colleague of mine just told me she bought the game to her 10 year old son. Then, one day, they were coming home from somewhere and the boy was excited to get to playing, once back home, and said:"When we get home, I'm going to make a baby!" My friend wasn't shocked, she mostly found it funny, because, hey, it's just a game, not real life :)
  • Well the Sims 2 was way more sexual back in the day and that got 7+ back in the day. The Sims 4 is nowhere as bad and it got a 12+ in the UK. (As an example).

So tbh, it's more that ratings are getting more sensitive rather than it being really adult. In my head, I was playing the Sims 2 at age 8, and I'm fine. So I think the Sims 4 should be fine :)
  • Also kids know that couples "kiss" and do stuff under the covers they just don't know what. And the Sims doesn't go into any further detail.

Theres no way to disable the Content for kid safety, you as a parent should sit with her and explain things in a way that she understands about the game
  • this is an old post but if it helps, i played sims at around her age. i kinda had the vague idea of what "woohooing" was, my mom told me that if i click the woohoo action i cant play anymore. legit worked up until 8th grade lol
  • I've been playing The Sims since I was 10 years old... lol (I'm 22 now). It's fine. Relax and just let her play. There's nothing in this game (especially Sims 4, which is the most quirky game in the series) that's even remotely inappropriate for kids to see/hear.
  • I had a few concerns when buying for my daughter early on (mind you, she's 20 now and it was clearly not Sims 4 back then but after playing it myself for so long, I can say the actual game interactions aren't too risky or naughty. I Would, however, watch carefully if you allow her to have custom content as some of that can be down right x-rated.
