Sims and swimming pools.. why???

Ok sims really seem to hate the pools in the sims 4 you cant make them take a dip unless you force them then they are out as soon as they get in.. I would think that sense they added summer to the game they would have made the sims more attracted to the pools.. especially In oasis springs.. let's hope that ea adds a loved water or to swim trait soon

  • Mine seem to be more willing to stay in the pool if they have a whim, are Active, or have the Energized moodlet. In fact I've had some go running off to get in the pool in the middle of the night. But yes, I've also had some swim around for a few seconds then climb right back out.
  • I have the opposite problem. Every time I click on the "hygiene" icon beside the need bar to autocomplete it, they would go to the pool instead of taking a shower. Is anyone having this problem after the Season's patch?

OP, maybe you can try this trick. LOL.
  • I have to say I just went through a moment of panic in my game. Both parents decided to sit on the edge of the pool and dangle their feet whilst having their 'juice'. :open_mouth: This was in the dead of Winter, and if memory serves, it was snowing. I got a scare when the notice popped up that Louise was freezing to death. :open_mouth: How on Earth can these two Sims possibly be trusted to raise other Sims, when they have next to no common sense? The children, at least, know to run inside. Sheesh. Now, had these two chosen to sit in the spa, that's another story. But, no, they shed their cold weather outerwear for their bathing suits. Happily, I hit the pause button, came over here for some help, and my instincts to have them go inside proved correct. I averted a disaster. Shortly after I had Louise go inside, her hubby lingering out there in the frigid air, sipping his juice oh-so-slowly, I got a second notice. Guess who was freezing to death? You got it. And they have the audacity to suggests our Sims are 'smarter'. I'm still waiting to see that one in action. LOL
  • Active sims on non-pool (as in "type") lots stay in longer. Especially if you tell them to swim laps.
They also stay in longer (I think) if it's hot.

That said, if you really want them to stay in a pool:

    Go to a pool lot
Change it up by having them use the jumping platform
Socialize with others in the water. 90% of the time they will stay in the water while talking.

That said, to optimize all of it, make a Swimming club. Solves all your problems.

    I wish there was a pool woo-hoo.
  • I don't have that issue oddly. But since seasons came out my Sims have no pool unless they live in Oasis Spring - and seeing I don't have any living in OS - no longer an issue. I removed all pools in the rest of the world I do play in - don't want anyone freezing to death.

I will set up a sprinkler and kiddie pool during summer - that will have to do - until silly sims don't think outdoor swimming in the winter is okay. I only had a few pools as I don't have many sims living on big lots and do not care for tiny little pools - anyway. There is a gym with a large pool in OA but I honestly never see any sims use it. LOL.
