Sims autonomous choices are horrible

I definitely agree that the water habit is the worst. My retail store owner always has a few minutes to wait before customers arrive so...she ALWAYS gets a glass of water. If her needs are full, she doesn't go improve a skill or anything; instead she dances or gets more flipping water. I thought maybe my sim had a hidden trait of being addicted to water or something, but since everyone else has this issue I guess all sims do that. Also, why can't sims change into outfits by themselves when they start to overheat or freeze? They'll walk around the house uncomfortable for hours because there's a heatwave or something and then almost die unless I force them to change their outfit. I agree that it's annoying to have to micromanage a whole family when all I really want to do is focus on the story of my sims.
