Sims Autonomy - What do they do, what don't they do?

I feel like if I set the autonomy to full and don't control them the sims mostly either look after their needs or talk with each other, they never seem to chose to do much skill-related for me. And I'm controlling a family of 8 so it would be useful to have them do their hobbies (like gardening) autonomously.

Yes, my Sims do fish autonomously. Mind you, it's not necessarily the active family. I play a rotation save and the second family mom in the rotation, is often seen near the residence of the first family, fishing away. A much older and now discarded incarnation of this save, my young Mom in my active family, would attend her garden, vigorously. She was dedicated to keeping her 'crops' in good health. LOL
