Sims can't buy anything build mode because of "insufficient funds"
I'm trying to build an add on to my sims home, but whenever I go into build mode, I can't build anything because of insufficient funds. The issue seems to be that my game seems to think the family has no business funds even though they don't own a business.
This is what I'm seeing in build mode:

You can see in the bottom left corner that the business funds icon/amount covers their actual funds. I don't know if this is connected to the fact that their lot is somehow marked generic instead of residential. I can't change it because, apparently, you can't change the lot type of an owned lot.
