Sims can't buy anything build mode because of "insufficient funds"

I'm trying to build an add on to my sims home, but whenever I go into build mode, I can't build anything because of insufficient funds. The issue seems to be that my game seems to think the family has...

You'll probably have to move them out, change the lot type, then move them back in. If there's a money discrepancy when you move them back in, use the money cheat to change it back.
