Sims will not follow commands

I have had the game for less than a week now. In my first household, my daughter died from starvation because she wouldnt eat. Now its happening to this new household. NO ONE is following my commands and not doing normal daily tasks, like eating. When I command to fix a meal, the bubble drops down as if they "heard" the command, then it X's out and they dont do it. This is happening for any command. They have gone rogue, but dont have enough sense to eat. I don't want this family to die from starvation!!

I have tried the resetSim cheat, and that doesnt work. Anyone else having this issue AND how did you fix it? This is very frustrating.

  • Actually, they are not doing anything. Even computer generated commands X out automatically. Whhhhhhyyyyyy?
  • I get that occasionally for cleaning up, but nothing for all commands. Generally It's just 1 Sim who simply refuses to clean. Not sure what's going on. Are you using an EA House or a built-house.
  • Can they get to the stove & fridge? The only time my sims consistently X out a command is when they can't reach something.

Maybe it's an old bug from way back in TS2 where something for some crazy reason blocks the refrig. Right in front of the refrig a tile gets blocked. Do yourself a favor. Go into build mode, click on the top down view to see if anything is blocking your Sims...but you probably won't see anything but just in case...like on the wall etc. Then move it or the fridge and stove etc. I have a sneaky idea this is a very old bug from TS2 days where the tile in front of an object (especially the fridges) were corrupted. But then again like in TS3 it could be a light fixture overhead in the way. Or back to TS2 like a decorative on the wall blocking them. I know some is due to the bugged multitasking but if you check you may be surprised and or move the stove and fridge etc.
  • I had a Sim continuously "X" out a command to talk to herself in the mirror. Then I discovered she'd set a book down on the floor in front of the mirror, and it blocked her. Once I removed the book, she was fine.

If it's happening to ALL your commands, though, then something is certainly wrong. Sorry I can't help you more. Maybe the save file is corrupted, or maybe it's custom content that's causing some weird issue. (Something you downloaded from The Gallery, maybe?) Or maybe your game is just glitching out in a bad way.

Do you have mods tho? If you do, remove them. Also, they tend to do this if someone on the lot is doing homework. If that's not the case, try repairing your game or check this: http://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2015/12/multiple-problems-with-interactions-being-dropped-or-randomly-queued/

    Hello @ml105.
Although you don't have cc in your game, do you have mods in your game? If you do, move your mods folder to the desktop. Then start the game and test to see if the issue is still there.

Repairing the game may help. To do that, right click on the sims 4 picture in Origin and click repair.

Try resetting your sims 4 folder and see if that helps. To do that, move your sims 4 folder ( that is in Documents -Electronic Arts - then the sims 4 folder is there ) to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated. Exit the game and then add back the "options.ini" file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders from the desktop sims 4 folder to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders.

Try starting a new save game and test to see if the same issues are occurring in that save game as well.
