Sims Won't Use Dishwasher

OR, the sim will walk to the other end of the house to put a plate or dish on a coffee table.
BUT, that sim was standing right beside the dishwasher having that snack.

And this is "good code" EA\Maxis?

Oh Gawd. The number of Sim hours my stupid Sims have lost due to deciding it would be nice to go to the the other side of the lot, even on a different floor, to use a sink, when they were stood right next to one... :(

Whenever my sims do that I take away their sinks. Too many on a lot confuses them.

Is there something in the way of the dishwasher? What's on top of it or hanging above it? Routing issues can be hard to solve. Also, if the dishwasher is already running they can't add more. My Sims are not confused and usually prefer the dishwasher unless it's already running.

My sims are using their dishwasher as of when I played last... I had to repair it yesterday so it's not a global bug if it's one. He's in a mansion with lots of sinks but then again only eats in the dining room that is very close to the kitchen because I set the table. I would make sure all the pathing is clear to the dishwasher and if you have clutter remove it for awhile. If things are resized too or set with MOO you could have a blocked area.

Sometimes I have to sell and rebuy dishwashers and trash cans to get Sims to use them again.
