Since when are sims so freaking needy?

I recently updated my game for the first time since spring, and since then, my sim' s life has been a hell. Starting from the morning and up to midnight, her extended family and friends keep showing up at her door, often several times a day. As soon as she makes a new friend, they join the stalking horde.
Before I updated the game, it used to be maybe 1-2 people a day, which was okay. 10 is not. My sim has work to do, the point of her life is not to entertain guests 24/7. I keep sending the visitors away, but thet keep coming back. Guess my only option is to give her home the private dwelling trait and call people over when I want to hang out? It will ruin the surprise, but it's better than having my poor sim yell at her mother for interrupting her work for the 3th time a day.

My sims often invite guests in and then just let them do whatever while my sims carry on doing whatever they were doing.
  • Hm. I'm not having this problem. Sorry, you're Sims' home is being 'invaded'. What my Sim is unhappy about is that he's a Global Superstar, of TV, film and music. He's got Obsessed Fans, too, who hang around out front, sometimes, sans clothing. Leave tiered cakes and trash on the ground, that my Sim feels obligated to clean up so that his neighbors don't yell at him for bringing the value of their neighborhood down. At least the Paparazzi don't leave anything behind. Oh, and he keeps his gates locked. That might help you out, too.
  • I'm having a similar problem with Sims calling several times a day wanting to come and hang out or just showing up at all hours. Usually, these are random Sims that my Sim "met" while ordering a drink which means they didn't actually speak to each other they just happened to order a drink at the same time. The bartender is always part of this "conversation" and gets added to the list of potential acquaintances that starts pestering the next day with phone calls or visits. I also have at least three, sometimes four, random strangers knocking on the door.
  • If unwanted visitors are a problem, you can click on the front door of your sim's home and set "No Trespassing" rules. The most restrictive setting ensures that only the mailman putting bills in the mailbox will ever trouble your sim.

I’ve never used this. Will sims still knock on the door if they have been invited via the phone?

Sims you've explicitly invited are allowed to come onto the lot as normal. "Invite Over" or "Ask on Date" or any other welcoming interaction isn't affected by the no-trespassing rule. Similarly, if someone walks by on the street, you can flag them down and have a normal social interaction with them. It just stops anyone autonomously showing up uninvited and knocking on the door.
  • I'm having this issue as well. My sim's house is set to private dwelling, no trespassing on the door, and she keeps her door locked and still sims keep walking in uninvited. She's living in Brindleton Bay not Sulani and I don't even own Eco Living, so I can't imagine what's causing it. Justin Delgado had the nerve to waltz in, go right into the bathroom where my sim was having a pee and gave her an embarrassed moodlet for however long. It's most irritating.

Oh awesome, I'm going to add this setting to my sims home today. I don't generally mind visitors dropping by when they make sense but most of the time it's random strangers that my sims don't even know.

One of my sims is a level-5 celebrity, so I feel your pain. His wife isn't too far behind. They just had their second kid and one of my superstar's friends is always asking to stop by. I put the Private Dwelling trait on their house, but it doesn't stop the friends from coming over.
