I think non-single sims are boring. You repeatedly click meaningless tasks because the game tells you to. Ohh, your toddler wants something, click these actions because the game says so. Ohh, your pet needs something, click these actions because the game says so. Your teen needs to do their homework, click the homework action so your teen can be confined to a chair for 4 hours, because the game says so. BORING!!!
Basically I love playing single YA sims for every reason you don’t like to. And I don’t like playing multiple sim households for the reasons you like to.
You know, some people don’t even “play” households. They just build lots. Some people just create sims. Some people don’t play, build, or create sims, they just make mods and CC.
That’s what has always made Maxis so great. They make games that all types of people can find joy in.
That makes sense.
We have different interests in the game.
I make families interesting by NOT making the perfect family. I have that one kid who always does their homework happily, then does extra credit without me even telling them to, then work a on their extra credit projects the second that they get them and never misses a day of school.
Then I've got the other kid who hardly ever does her homework and skips school whenever she gets the chance. I also have a mod that allows me to lock skills so that only certain Sims get good at certain skills. I change personalities. I like families so that I can play that family aspect and raise babies, but I can also take the child to the park and play with her friends or the teenager can go out alone and party or play The grandma who's kids are now older and has time to just focus on her career.
I guess, I don't feel confined to the game. Plus, I always play on Long mode so that if I don't want them to do homework one day, I don't feel pressured to make them do it. We can just go have fun instead. Where I live in the game it rains ALL DAY EVERYDAY in the spring. One day it was hot and sunny so my child sim just took the day off to go play with friends and I just focused on her that day. I like families so I can switch around and experience all different sorts of gameplay. Whatever type of gameplay style I feel like playing, I can play. And they all are a part of the same family.
It's so interesting to see how others play. That's why I started this thread. It's cool seeing how different everyone views the game and how differently everyone plays it.
