Snow Day?

Just wondering, do schools have snow days if there is heavy snow/blizzards with seasons like they did in sims 2 and sims 3?

No, no snow days in TS4 - thank goodness! My TS3 kids lost so much schooling time to snow days it wasn't funny.

Yes! They were a special treat in TS2, but in TS3 it pretty much snowed all winter. And with the Thursday holidays on top, you're pretty much cheated out of an A grade for your kid sims since they never had the chance to go to school.

If you want a snow day in TS4, you can create a holiday on a day with heavy snow and just set it to be a non-working one. It's not as realistic, but at least you have more control.

You actually can disable snow in Sims 3 if you want to, if it’s too much ;) Or use testing cheats to turn heavy snow into light snow. I never do that though and I can’t remember ever playing kids who didn’t get their A grade because of days off, maybe it depends how long you set your winters (in fact the problem for me rather lies in trying to let them not be a success because they always pick up their homework automatically)? I simply don’t recognize this ‘never having the chance to go to school’? Being able to create a holiday seems like a great solution for people who do like a free day when there’s heavy snow though, I agree the more control factor is best.

All I remember is at least sim kids didn’t put their homework in the snow like TS2 I could never find my sims kids homework half the time because it would be buried under snow on the lot somewhere. :joy:

My Sims 3 kids didn't even know what school was during the winter. :) I miss the snow days.

Oh, I did. It got to a point where I was sick of the eternal snow days, so I either turned snow off completely or used the weather machine. Sims 2 and 4 were more reasonable in that regard

Gotcha, it didn't seem like it! I wish it was at least an option for the realism. I was inspired to ask this question because the first snow of the year is happening in RL hahaha (in PA) thanks! xo

Ha, I'm in NJ and getting the same snow as you. Was just thinking about how close my current save is to Winter and how it'll be kind of cool to have it snowing in my sims' world and my own!

I live in New Jersey too!

Same here NJ. Who knew there were so many of us here? LOL

If you had a desk they took their homework to the first desk they could find on the first floor, but yeah, a later EP broke that feature and they never did fix it to where they put their homework on the desks. Once in awhile. Buy mode removed the snow so you could see things buried in snow or the graphic card toggle to show underneath snow worked, but your card had to be good enough to enable that feature.
  • You can make your own snowdays just have a holiday called snowdays and click the tick that says off from school.

Came here to say that. Honestly, im not sure snow days are a thing outside Canada and the us. I never had one growing up in Sweden, they basically just told us to come to school if we were able to make it. Most people live close enough to walk anyway.
