So many kittens (long post)

My Sim family had just lost their cat to old age, so I had them adopt a kitten that they named Sky. The next day their teen daughter was hanging around the docks and befriended a stray, so she decided to adopt him. The teen was close to aging up so I figured she'd move out soon and take her new cat Cosmo with her. Well the kitten aged up and the same night (when I was not paying attention) I get the expecting kittens pop up. This was a huge surprise because I've never gotten a pet to mate successfully in Sims 4 (despite trying a bunch). Sky ended up having 3 girl kittens, Nova, Star, and Luna. So I decide to move the now young adult daughter into an apartment with Cosmo and Nova. As soon as Nova aged up, I sent them both off to the vet to be "fixed". There were a bunch of other Sims and pets there so it took forever, but finally back home they both went with their cones of shame. The next day Nova kept throwing up, so back to the vet she went. Once there the check in thing only had options for check up and reverse spay. I bought her a wellness treat and left. Sure enough the next day I get a notice that Nova is in labor. Um how? First of all the other cat in the house is her father, so I'm thinking gross not cool Sims game. I also never got the expecting pop up this time. She ends up with 3 kittens and I immediately use MC to view who their father is, and it turns out it was the black cat that was at the vet office. It's weird that she was able to be fixed after becoming pregnant, and also weird that she mated while waiting for the procedure. Either way I was done with all the cats, so the poor kittens were sold in the end. I also think this is a bit of a warning if you take your pet to be fixed, you could still end up with a few unexpected family members :D

  • The autonomous pet woohoo definitely keeps the game interesting. I had two generations of accidental kittens in the same household once. My sims adopted an adventurous cat who would leave the lot periodically. I forgot that doing that could result in kittens if the cat was not fixed and, of course, she wasn't. Thankfully, she only had one kitten, a girl. However, her daughter inherited her adventurous trait and the same thing happened to her. She also had one kitten, a boy this time. The family line ended with him because he never autonomously mated with anyone and I never directed him to.
  • That's hilarious! I've been able to mate dogs and get puppies. However, despite having my kitty mate at least 4-5x, she never got pregnant and eventually died. I'd have sold those kitties, too. :D
  • It's just crazy how it all happened. I tried for so long to get kittens at first, then the one time I try to prevent them.. I get 6 :D
  • Wow, that's facinaitng. I do like how they implemented autononous pet wooohoo, it definitely makes the game interesting and more realistic. Also it's hilarious that your cat ended up having kittens with a cat who was at the vet's office xD lol I just recently seen two of my dogs, King Aubrey and Duchess Romilly mate autonomously, although they've already had two litters who are already grown I wonder if they're going to have another? My dogs seem to rarely breed autonomously luckily, otherwise I'd have to sterilize all of my Kennel's retired dogs.
