Longest running family?

Hey there :) 

I may be the slowest Sims 4 player in history. XD My favourite Sim was born in November 2018. He is now a young adult (in my mind like 22/23 years old). Just last month (May 2026) he finally asked his High School Sweetheart if she would marry him. (She said yes btw and I got all teared up...after all these years he is like real family in some way <3 )

I only play this one save file that started with his grandparents in 2017. I play the epic version of the Sims, because my Sims age when I feel finally ready for it. I have loved and played these families now for almost a decate, and it feels like coming home whenever I visit them and write their stories. 

I hope I will be able to play the Sims 4 for many MANY years, because I love each one of them and I want to see their future children and grandchildren!!!! (The way I play this game I may die first before my Sims are even elders, haha!)

My current three legacy families are in the 5th or 6th gen. I started playing them about 7 years ago I think, but I play other families too 😊

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, my Sims experienced many exciting adventures, had some heartaches but much more happy, loving moments and whats most importand, they have a strong family friendship with each other, they are very very close. ♡ I love my Sims!

I play a gigantic rotation, so things progress slowly. I've been playing the same save pretty much since the game came out. I think I'm only 5-6 generations in though. If I'm counting this right. For the longest line though the youngest family member is actually her grandmother reborn.

In my main save, the 7th generation is getting married now. There are 19 households, about 75 sims now, all families related to the 2 original founders. I think I started that save about 3 years ago. 

Usually 7 or 8 generations is my limit before I have to start a new save. I think its because 9 months out of the year, I usually only have time on the weekend to play if we're not busy. I like to play large families and each generation seems to take so long to progress sometimes. I just get tired of them. lol

I never used to be able to do legacy play because I never had the attention span for it, but I’ve been playing with the same family since 2018 now. My founders are three of the sims from the Season’s trailer and I just love them! I’m 15 generations in and constantly trying to think of new stories for my sims to keep the enthusiasm going! 

5th! It's the longest I have gotten of any The Sims iterations, 10 is my ultimate goal 😁 

I play rotationally with ~10 families that are descendants of my first Sim. I have been playing this save from 2016 ish and also building along the way when needed. Kind of "forever save" style. 

I've got a Landgraab save that has its origins in 2014 or early 2015. My guess is the main family is over 20 generations. I moved the house to a new save when the Walk of Fame in Del Sol Valley was full. 

Once upon a time, I saw a sim walking down the street and I realised at that moment I hadn't started a new save, but just created a household within my first save. There was my first ever sims 4 child walking down the street as a fully grown adult. I had seduced Nancy Landgraab and had two children with her, moved to the big house, but when I got there (this was my first sims 4 experience remember) I didn't know how to keep up with the bills.  So I set those Landgraabs aside and planned to come back to them, but I messed that up. My first sims 4 children grew up unsupervised, Nancy and Geoff were long dead.

And having found them again, I felt bad for them. I wanted to make them a nice house, and they have the money to do experiment. I was inspired to build Lyme Park (1995 Pride & Prejudice 'Pemberly'), but ambition and talent and in-game assets were not aligned, shall we say. It was awful and unplayable. Two front doors. 🤷

Hideous daughters of Nancy Landgraab. 

It got abandoned for a while. When Island Living was coming out, I had no problem bulldozing that and used it to test ideas for Sapphire Shores because. The Landgraab lot is also 50x50, and what I built with Landgraab money is basically this thing below.

I don't have screenshots of building this on the Landgraab lot, because it was meant just as a quick and dirty mock-up. So the reason the present day Landgraab house has such a large rear terrace is because it was meant to go over the water. The indented entrance is weird. The diagonals don't make for a nice floorplan. 

And these pics are from right now, today, a cold Saturday morning in 2026. The test house became the real house. Many generations here. I got the Legacy Leader achievement in this save.

Ultimately, I preferred this house in Oasis Springs. And I was attached to the idea of giving my first sims a nice house. My vision of stairs going into the sea didn't work. And I had designed it with a basement, but waterfront lots don't allow that, so a lot had to be repackaged. There's a bunker underneath the fountain at the back. For rockets. 

The downstairs lounge (for there are several) needs a makeover. It's been at the back of my mind since the Bridgerton kit came out. 

I started my legacy save about four years ago when I was working on the trophy list for sims 4 on PlayStation, I only needed  'play the same family for 10 generations' and 'play a family for 26 generations or more' for the platinum trophy, my save at the time was already on 4 generations so I carried on that save and am currently on generation 28 of that same save, they are also all merfolk apart from one that's a spellcaster. I played on short lifespan for the first 18 generations which was a lot of work to get them romantically involved and have children in such a short space of time but then science babies were introduced to the game so gen 19 was a single parent science baby then I noticed that mermaids merform had inherited the founder sims facial features so I science babied the next 8 generations as I was curious to see if all their merfolk genetics would carry over and they did which I loved so I carried on having science babies until the 26 gen trophy popped and I got the platinum trophy too. My profile pic on here is my sim Josie Barnes, she was the baby that got me the 26 generations trophy and ultimately the platinum trophy and she's had five kids of her own so her kids are generation 28. The game considered my first ever sim in that save as sim zero so the trophy popped when I reached gen 27 which was Josie and there's about 32 family members in total with neighbourhood stories adding babies in the background, I'm still coming across Barnes members in game that I didn't know existed 😆
