Sorry, just thought of one more thing! The owl could mean we are getting a new trait of "Night Owl" (it would be new to TS4, right?), which would fit in perfectly with burglars/thieves.
There is a Night Owl trait in the Rewards store. You get extra points for working on skills at night.
What we'd need is a Nocturnal trait - though since Sims don't actually have a circadian rhythm, I'm not sure it matters.
