You can disable NPC Romance gain in the pack settings, I'm not entirely sure if it's that specifically that prevents romance gain through the app, but from my experience sarcastically using the kissy face for hate messages, my Sim hasn't gained romance with anyone else but their romanctic partners.
I am not 100% certain but hopefully if you turn it off then maybe it makes a difference for you too. Otherwise you may just have to avoid social bunny and deactivate it entirely.
