Social services?

Social services (Social workers?) took Victor and Lily Feng’s child. His needs were full, he had good relationships with his parents and a decent childhood. Still.. 3 times in a row (didn’t save) the boy disappeared as his mother came home from work. Exactly the same time each time.

Is this a bug?? If so, that’s a horrible one. If not - WHY?

  • Was the child home alone for anything other than micro-seconds? EA has decided any sim under teen needs 24/7/365 supervision. Learned that the hard way in TS2.

Maybe in previous games, but this is not true in S4. Kids can be left at home without babysitters. If you try to leave a toddler alone, the game simply sends her to daycare (or you have the option to hire a nanny if your Sim is leaving for work). And as long as the Sim doesn't actually leave the neighbourhood (go through a loading screen or into a rabbit hole), a toddler can be left at home without supervision. (For instance, the mother can walk over to the skating rink and leave the toddler alone.)

I think a kid can be taken away for flunking school, but you get some warnings. (I haven't actually had this happen, so I can't be sure.) The only way to lose a toddler is not to feed them - they can be red on all their other needs, but as long as they haven't completely bottomed out on the hunger need, they won't get taken away. (I have tried this one - I had a 'wild child' toddler that was simply evil.)

Maybe the kid missed too much school? Were any of his needs in the red?
  • Agree with invisiblgirl. I have left my kids alone at home and they were not taken away. The only time a baby was taken away was when I played the family on 1st floor and totally forgot they had a baby upstairs, LOL.
  • He had bad grades, but was never left alone? Is bad grades enough? Wasn’t enough time to fix his grades before he was taken. I guess I’ll have to cheat.

Bad grades would call for SS in TS2(?), but I don't think all my kids have good grades, my D students were never taken away. Can they drop all the way to F? If so I have not explored this... ;)
