[solved] Encourage/Motivate oversized crops

What is the difference between "encourage" and "motivate" to grow? I sometimes have only the option to "encourage", other times both "encourage" and "motivate". Is this specific to the sim or the plant and which option is more powerful?

At the moment I have five sims in the household with the oversized crops and they are still low in gardening, only rank 4.

Ah, nevermind, I just saw how this works. Plants that already got encouraged can additionally get motivated.
