Some questions raised by my game today..

I) Will a slob butler be a poor employee (i.e. bad at their job of cleaning?)

II) How do you approach your gardens, especially with seasons in effect, nectar to make and money to earn? Do you plant a new crop each season or put in a variety? What are the best plants for nectar making?

III) How long do Sim horses live?
  • I. Slob butlers will probably leave stuff around the house. I know slob waiters leave piles of dishes on tables in the restaurants.

II. For nectar, I placed in the basement a rack for every type of nectar sims can make. I have planted several fruits and veggies, basically whatever came with a few packs of seeds and some seeds bought from the grocery store. They make nectar from whatever grows in their garden that is suitable for nectar making, then it's stored in the specific rack and allowed to age. I only remove my plants when they die, but I try to plant different plants that can be harvested in different seasons so there's always something to pick from the garden. Even if there are no harvestable grapes in winter for example, there is usually enough leftover grapes and fruit to make wine from when the plants were in season.

III. No idea, I play with aging off.
  • I can only help with questions II
I plant my plants under cover. This can be in a greenhouse, under a roof, or in indoor planter pots. Whatever plant is in season may be dragged out temporarily but will be put back in shelter before the season ends. I usually have a few plants for each season in my garden.
  • Oh hey, I have posted the answer to the third question in Horse Ranch Did You Know thread!

Now let me look it up...

    Ah! Here it is!

Finally, after all that frustration, I finally found the age durations in the tuning files!

So I'll share horse age durations here!

    • Foal
      • Short: 3.5 days
      • Normal: 7 days
      • Long: 28 days

    • Adult
      • Short: 25 days
      • Normal: 50 days
      • Long: 200 days

    • Elder
      • Short: 6.5 days
      • Normal: 13 days
      • Long: 52 days

It also seems like age variance is turned off for horses, so I guess all horses have same life span duration...

Finally, this forums' search bar came in handy! Google didn't.

So, in total, horses lifespan is:
    • on short: 35 days
    • on normal: 70 days
    • on long: 280 days

I put my plants in a greenhouse. I would think Slob would be a bad trait for a butler --- But I've never tried that one. As for how long horses live, I simply don't know, yet. I play on Long, and the filly took quite some time to age up to an adult mare. I will be devastated when the Stallion and original Mare pass. My Sims are very invested in their pets.

question about horse ranch. I thought I had everything set for no death in my game and in the game play settings but the grim came for Venus pink mini sheep and i immediately exited the game. Anyone know if this is a glitch or correctable?
  • There have been other simmers with this issue @LeucosiaX This is the bug report thread on AHQ

Thank you for the link @rosemow I me too'd the thread, but I see it's an old one. I heard of it before but it never happened to me and I played the pack a lot when it came out. Similar happened to cottage living at one point but then it stopped. Hopefully they fix it.??
Does anyone know a cheat to save mini sheep from the grim reaper<-- sounds way to trivial and specific, but asking anyway
